Team HARD. announce GKR Scaffolding as partner for the 2018 Team HARD Racing Scholarship Programme.
The programme will now become the ‘GKR BetterFuture Scholarship’. GKR’s investment means that the scholarship winner will have the chance to test one of the VW CC British Touring Cars at the end of the 2018 race season.
GKR was Bobby Thompson’s platinum sponsor as he became the VW Cup champion last season. As industry leaders in a high performance, skilled environment, GKR focus on growing and developing capabilities and careers via their BetterFuture programme.
As with their investment in Bobby, this partnership will demonstrate natural progression through Team HARD, from grassroots and junior racing to becoming a professional racing driver.
In what is a very tough industry to find support and investment, Team HARD can now offer this whilst assisting the winner in their journey up the motorsport ladder.
The competition will consist of a full day for each entrant at the Croft race circuit between February 19th and February 23rd. There will be on track driving assessments in a GKR VW Cup car with professional instructors. Competitors will also undergo fitness/reaction tests and a media exercise. The top 10 drivers from the competition over the week will be invited back for the final shootout. The winner will compete in the GKR Racing car in the 2018 VW Cup.
Tony Gilham, Owner of Team HARD Racing added:
“It is refreshing to work closely with people that have the same vision as us and companies that want to help create a better future in their respected industries. Between us, we are able to offer a very unique opportunity for up and coming racing drivers. With the support of GKR Scaffolding, we can provide opportunities through the scholarship programme with the added incentive of a BTCC test for the winner. It takes everything to a whole new level.
The scholarship is filling up fast with only limited spaces available. We now expect the remaining places to be taken up very quickly.”
Neil Rowswell, Director at GKR Scaffolding said:
“We have two core values within our business that fit naturally with motorsport – building high performance teams and a commitment to constant improvement.
It’s investment in developing people and their skills that is at the heart of our BetterFuture programme. Extending this outside the business allows us to play an active part in a sport that interests us as well as create a better future for an individual with genuine talent.”
