British gtTeam HARD. are excited to announce a third CONSECUTIVE season in British GT this season with a two car GT4 entry and an all new driver line up.

Team HARD. had a very eventful, but frustrating 2017 especially after a very special debut season in 2016, culminating in winning the team championship.

The British GT package is a very special place to be and the team cannot wait to come back this year with a competitive package. One driver pairing is confirmed as is the first seat in the second car and we are in discussions with a few other suitably competitive and funded drivers for the remaining seat.

Team HARD. Manager Gary Allen said, “It was touch and go for a while as to whether we had our two cars accepted for 2018. The appeal of GT racing and the SRO package has meant that the series is in fact over-subscribed, so it was a case of working as hard as possible to make sure we were in the best shape possible for 2018 following approval of our entries. We now have a dedicated GT factory and have built a very solid infrastructure as we look to challenge again for the team championship we won in 2016.”

Team HARD. have a silver pairing already signed for the first car as well as a star of the future in the first seat for the second car. All three drivers confirmed so far have experience in the GT4 machinery and will be looking to hit the ground running come the first race weekend at Oulton Park in March.

Team HARD. Principle Tony Gilham added “GT4 is growing at a very fast rate and the level of competition is very high. We are under no illusions how strong the grid will be this year but are more than ready and as a team we are always up for the challenge. I think the rise of interest in the GT world as a whole and especially GT4 makes it a very appealing career move for up and coming racing drivers. Couple that with our unique concept as a team and that is arguably one of the best overall packages available.”

The Northampton based driver will contest the final round of the SRO British GT Championship at Donington Park in the Team HARD. run 2016 Ginetta G55.

Coming off the back of a great result in Monza where Abbie made history by being the first woman EVER to win at a Blacpain Endurance Race event in a Ferrari 488 GT3. For having minimal seat time in the Italian machine and to produce an amazing result Eaton is hoping that she gets to grips with the 2016 GT4 Championship winning car just as quickly.

Abbie said on the switch to the Team HARD. run Ginnetta; “I’m really looking forward to learning about the characteristics of the Ginetta GT4 and being back in the British GT paddock. It’s a fun weekend for me but I’m hoping a little rain dance will bring the Ginettas into podium contention at the usually ‘power dominant’ Donington Park.”

Team HARD. Boss Tony Gilham said on having the young lady in the car; “Abbie has been around a long time and has driven some fantastic races, we have spoken about working with each other on many occasions, but it has never happened for whatever reason, but the stars have seemed to have aligned and I am excited to see what Abbie can produce behind the wheel of our title winning GT4 Ginetta”

Jake Giddigs

Joining Eaton in the Team HARD. Ginetta will be Jake Giddings. The young driver who has previously piloted the G55 for Team HARD. with his last outing being at the famous Belgium circuit Spa where he finished 10th overall, 7th in Class and towards the end of the race was quickest on track in the GT4 Class.

Giddings expressed his joy at the chance to jump into the Team HARD. car again “Really looking forward to be getting back out on the grid. It was great to be asked to come back to Team HARD. to push for that result that everyone deserves  and to try finish on that high for the last round of the British GT championship. I am really looking forward to driving with Abbie she’s a quick pedaler, we’ve battled on track  so will be good to share a car and see if together we can put the Ginetta though it’s paces.

Tony followed up what Jake had to say with “Having Jake in the car again is a massive plus for the us, having worked with the boys before at Spa they are all keen to work with him again and it has definitely brought a much needed buzz to the team again. We hope that Abbie and Jake will work well together and help us end a disappointing year with a smile and Silverware.”

Hasn’t been done before, racing in two championships with two completely different cars at the same weekend.

#VW Golf GTI 270 bhp front wheel drive and a #Ginetta G55 GT4 350 bhp rear wheel drive.

Started on Saturday with two 1 hour practices in the Ginetta followed by the Quali for the Maximumgroup.net VAG Trophy. Result: P 1 pole Position. Great start I thought, only two learn that I been disqualified from Quali and “promoted” to the back of the grid + 10 sec time penalty #startfromtheback

Race 1 in the wet from the back P11, not too bad I thought, only to be promoted again back to the back for apparently overtaking under yellow.
Race 2 from the back with a good portion of frustration to finish after 15 min P 2 and the well deserved podium.

Between Race 1 and Race 2 in the VAG Trophy I qualified for the British GT Championship – Brands Hatch GP in the Ginetta GT4. P8 out of 22 GT4’s not too bad. That was my Saturday at Brands.

Sunday started nice and sunny, open pitlane lots of autographs for thousands of fans.
2 pm race start for the 2 hour endurance race in the Ginetta GT4. I started the race with a rolling start beeing too cautious at the first corner “Paddock Hill” and lost 4 places. Which I was able to make up again in my 1 hour stint before Adam Hatfield took over the car doing a great race to finish in P9. Never been done but with a good portion of madness and the help of a fantastic Team Team-HARD. Racing and everybody who pushed me and shouted at me. Great thanks to Tony Gilham to make it all happen, to Ben Kattenhorn who keeps me calm, Claus Lips for coming over to support me, Debbie Gilham and Debbie Squires who hug and feed me. Steve Merron who prepare my VW to the best and Aaran Stroudd, Sean WarnesEddy HallPeter Farrow and Lydia Ormesher carrying my stuff

VAG Trophy – Team HARD

Team HARD took the spoils in both races with driver Paul Taylor taking the victories. In race 1 Kyle Owen-Bradshaw claimed a maiden podium and in race two Ben Wallace came second to Taylor.

Commenting after the race Kyle Owen-Bradshaw said: “What an amazing weekend at Brands Hatch. Racing on the GP circuit was an amazing feeling. First time out on it in qualifying, and I thought aim for 12th. Quali over and that’s P8. Race 1 and it was a very wet track. Full wets it is then. By lap 4 I was up to 3rd place. Holding on valienty I managed to come home to take my first podium in my rookie year. Race 2 saw me again start in 8th on slicks with a damp track. A cracking start saw me up to P4 by the end of the lap. Lap 3 saw me up to 3rd again with 2nd place in the cards as the car ahead had a 10 second time penalty. Unfortunately, the engine had other ideas as it decided to let go and that was race over and a DNF. Whilst disappointed, race 1 more than made up for this. Blessed to have Getac Technology Corp as my partner and giving me the opportunity to represent them on such a big stage. Without Getac, the dream would not be the reality it is. Thank you so much for unprecedented support Getac. I hope to be out again in 2 weeks time and continue to push and represent you on the big stage #GetacRacing #KB110 #OneLuv #Gohardorgohome

Chris Milford will race Autoaid/RCIB Insurance Racing’s #63 Ginetta G55.

Milford, quite possibly the first ever British GT driver to have grown up racing karts in Vietnam, currently competes in the VAG Trophy with Team HARD but makes the switch to its Ginetta alongside fellow Silver-rated driver Matt Chapman this weekend following his recent test aboard the squad’s BTCC car.

“I’m very excited to be driving for Autoaid/RCIB Insurance Racing in British GT,” he said. “Brands Hatch will be the highest-profile race I’ve done to date; I’ve not stopped preparing for it since I found out I’d be driving.

“Obviously I’m looking to compete with the top guys, the more seasoned drivers. But with a year of racing already under most of their belts I know it will be tough, even if it shouldn’t take me too long to get up to speed.”

Following a very successful debut British GT campaign culminating in the team championship, Team HARD. Racing and very proud to announce the second of their pairings of Michael Caine and Mike Newbould.

We feel it is another strong partnership that we have managed to put together as we defend our title and look to compete for the pro/am title too in 2017.
Michael is a very successful racing driver having previously raced in the British GT between 2001 and 2007 before moving on to compete in the Porsche Carrera Cup GB where he finished as runner up twice. Michael was to become the British GT Champion in 2012 and will now return to the Championship in the GT4 category at the wheel of a brand new Ginetta G55 built to the latest specification.
Michael added “After the 2016 went pear shaped, I’m really looking forward to competing in a championship again. Last year was the first time in 26 years of racing that I didn’t have a championship to compete in and then the guys at team hard gave me an opportunity in British Touring Cars that unfortunately didn’t really get started. I think we have a good chance this season and GT4 looks like it’s the future. Mrs Caine is also very happy as it gets me out the house and she has also been told that the end of year bash is in Paris!”
Michael is no stranger to the team having raced alongside us in the Carrera Cup GB as well as competing in the British Touring Car Championship for us in 2016 before an unfortunate injury curtailed his season early.
Tony Gilham said “It is great to have secured the services of Michael for the coming season as he brings so much to the table both on and off track. He is a seasoned professional and can only add strength to the team as a whole. We are very excited to see how he develops his relationship with Mike throughout the season and feel that there is a genuine possibility of the pro/am title. Mike hasn’t had much seat time so far but with such an experienced partner to learn from we look forward to seeing how he progresses”
Mike joins the team for 2017 after recently sampling one of our BTCC car’s from 2016 and having competed in the Ginetta Supercup last season as well as some seat time in a prototype car. Mike is a very capable driver and will look to work with Michael to further develop his ability as a racer and build on his relative inexperience.
Mike added “I am incredibly excited to be part of Team HARDs British GT campaign for 2017. I can’t thank Tony enough for putting this together, the opportunity to race along side Michael is fantastic for a new driver. I am really looking forward to drawing on Michaels skill and experience to help me develop as a racer in what is going to be a busy and exciting year ahead in British GT.
The new cars are currently in build at the Ginetta factory and we look forward to collecting them in the coming weeks to begin our test programme ahead of what we hope to be a very successful second year in British GT.
