- Carl was unable to take the start of the weekends opening race and in doing so recorded his first DNS of his career
Carl Boardley: “Oulton Park was certainly a weekend f what could and should have been. The weekend at the start was a bit difficult as the weather couldn’t make it’s mind up. At one moment it was dry and by the time I got to the grid it was pouring with rain. I qualified in P17, which was my best grid position of the season and with the BMW being rear wheel drive I was looking forward to making a good start and jumping quite a few cars and into the points. However, I unfortunately didn’t make it to the start of race 1 due a misdemeanor on the formation lap.
It all came together in the final race of the day and I’m pleased that I managed to recover the weekend to match my best career BTCC finish in P14. The pace in the car was good and I’m starting to feel more comfortable with it.
I’m looking forward to Knockhill where the BMW and rear wheel drive cars in general are notoriously strong. I’m hoping to ace qualifying and have a weekend that’s on the front foot from the start!”
Tony Gilham: “Carl did well to salvage some points from the weekend in race 3, his scoreboard is ticking over nicely, and I have high hopes of more points at Knockhill this weekend. Carl has a background of rear wheel drive racing and looks more comfortable in not only the car but himself this year. The CC didn’t suit his driving style so I am glad we have found a car that Carl can use to utilise his strengths.”
