- Mike won this weekend’s Jack Sears trophy, the team’s first silverware of the season
- Mike Bushell claimed his first points of the season with a P15 finish in race 2 (Race 1: P19, Race 3: P17)

Jack: “To be honest this weekend’s results do not reflect the pace we had in the car. In the dry the car was very competitive but much like the rest of the season, our straight-line speed disadvantage made it hard to overtake and to utilise the cars strengths.
“I was feeling confident going into qualifying, but a sudden downpour soaked the track. We decided to go for a half wet, half dry setup in the hope that the track would dry out. Unfortunately for us it didn’t which meant we weren’t able to capitalise on a mixed session.
“I had some good scraps throughout race day which was nice, especially in race 2 which saw me climb from the back of the field after a pitlane start to P18.
“It’s Snetterton up next, we had a good weekend last season in the VW CC climbing from the back of the grid to P11 in the final race of the day and qualifying inside the top 12 before my lap was removed for a technical infringement. I’m going into the weekend in good spirits and confident we can add to our points tally.”
Mike: “It was great to be back with the team after all the dramas that 2020 has thrown at us! The weekend didn’t get off to the best of starts after a power steering issue put me in the gravel at the beginning of FP1.
“In free practice 2 we really unlocked the potential of the CC finishing in P8 on legitimate pace, which was exciting for the whole team as it’s been a difficult season.
“I have to hold my hands up, qualifying didn’t go to plan after dropping a wheel on the kerb which sent me backwards into the wall. The guys and girls on my car did a great job to patch the VW CC up for race day and I’m just glad I could repay them by winning the Jack Sears trophy and bringing home some points for the team!
I’m not due to race at Snetterton next time out which is a shame but I will be keeping a keen eye on proceedings to see how Jack and the team get on, let’s hope they can grab a few more strong results in the CC’s final year.”
