“We’ve had some frustrating weekends this season, but I think this one tops them all. We know the car isn’t as competitive in qualifying conditions but I managed to wring every last tenth out of the VW CC to qualify in 18th, a position that you can race from and have a solid points scoring weekend. Our race pace had been strong in practice and I was confident that if I kept my nose clean, we could be on for a solid weekend, unfortunately it wasn’t to be.

“The engine developed a misfire on the way to the grid for race 1 which resulted in us not even taking the start, immediately putting us on the backfoot for the rest of the day. I’m gutted for the team who had worked hard to deliver a good and consistent race car this weekend but due to problems out of our hands, yet again I was unable to make the most of the weekend.

“We were able to make up some places and recover from the back but in the end, our weekend ends with disappointment and a missed opportunity.

“The next stop is Croft, a circuit that has offered mixed results over the last couple seasons, but I will be giving it my all and that’s a fact!”

Tom Onslow-Cole

“The pace in the car was really strong in FP1 and FP2 but our Achilles heel struck again and left us out of position after qualifying but I was at least right behind Jack and the plan was to move through the pack together to maximise the teams weekend.

“With Jacks issue before the start of race 1 I was left to fend for myself but made a great start and moved up 5 positions by the end of the second lap. I was running comfortably with the guys at the bottom of the points positions and looking to use our race pace to jump them but contact with one of the Hondas moved we back down the order.

“For the final two races I was having some problems with clutch slip which immediately relegated me to the back of the pack off the line in both races. Battling from 27th to 18th was fun but naturally I’m disappointed for the team as we should have been in the points scoring positions this weekend.

“It’s croft next, a circuit I go well at and actually brought home a podium for the Team HARD. crew in the VW CC in 2013 so I’m looking forward spending one last weekend in the car.”

Tony Gilham (Managing Director)

“I sound like a broken record, but we have been so unlucky this season. We admit that qualifying isn’t our strong point, but Jack and Tom did a sensible job in qualifying to allow us to maximise our race pace.

“Another issue out of our control on Jacks car really damped spirits and put us on the backfoot. The race pace was really good and if we could just get into the front pack we can stay there and get some good points and coverage for our sponsors.

“As it stands we are still pushing everyday to maximise the VW CC’s potential and have the best season we can. Some may think they we are taking our foot off the gas knowing we are building new cars for 2021 and beyond but I can assure you we are working tirelessly against the odds to have a good end to the season.”
